As a diehard football fan, baseball season just never seems to end for me. Heck, I’m already getting antsy for Hall of Fame weekend. But baseball’s looonnnnnnng season means great advertising opportunities for you and your business with promotional baseball schedules. And unlike football which usually has only a couple game days per week, baseball has several games on various days, meaning your promotion could be referred to multiple times per week.

My clients have loved using them over the years, especially with a healthy crosstown rivalry here in Chicago. Which brings up a point for cities like Chicago with multiple baseball teams. Which team should you promote along with your business? Your favorite or your clients’ favorite? Or should you promote both area teams? My initial suggestion would be to promote both on the same schedule (yes, we do have schedules that promote both). However, if you’re absolutely sure that your client base favors one team over the other, then go with the team that THEY want to see, which may or may not be your favorite. As well, if your business is fueled by fans from one team over the other, go with that team. An example would be restaurants or bars that are near Chicago’s Wrigley Field which would make Cubs promotions more appropriate.

Be aware, also, that due to licensing issues, you cannot promote a particular team’s name along with your own. On team schedules, you will see teams referred to as a city name along with their National or American League affiliation. For example, the Chicago Cubs would be listed at Chicago (NL) on your schedules.
