Mobile Marketing Role Model: XGames Viewers Text-to-Vote to Crown a Moto X Winner

Those of you that follow me, know I LOVE ESPN’s XGames (extreme sports). Daredevils galore pushing the limits of both man (or woman) and machine. And this event, appealing mainly to the younger Gen Y set, also pushes marketing frontiers.

At the recent XGames 17, fans could text-to-vote in the Moto X Best Whip contest to crown a fan favorite. Don’t know what a “Best Whip” is? Just watch this video. And you’ll also see how the text voting worked, too.

And what I liked even better is that this fan participation and engagement exercise used simple text voting. No downloading an app or using a web app (although they do have a very cool mobile app on iPhone). Best news is that you can do a text voting campaign on a smaller scale for your business. And it’s a great way to get instant feedback at events or tradeshows. Let’s see how it works…
