Mobile Marketing – Engaging Your Audience with a Game

Did you love playing the Atari computer game Pong in the 70s? Okay, you don’t have to admit you’re old enough to remember. And if you’re too young to remember, you could get an introduction to it with this cool promotion by fast food giant McDonald’s in Sweden.

Here’s why I love this mobile marketing promotion:

  • Requires only a mobile device with touch screen capability, no downloads!
  • The game is simple.
  • Coupons are delivered electronically direct to the phone.
  • Uses a reward.

While the technology required to link up the billboard with cell phone signal is sophisticated indeed, there are some ways you can use mobile text message marketing to get your audience to “play” with you:

  • Ask them to text special keywords to a designated number and immediately reply with a special coupon to redeem. By opting into your list (we suggest using our PWP Mobile “RewardMe” keyword listing building package), they can receive continued special “top secret” or “VIP” offers from you. Works well for restaurants.
  • Run a contest and have them vote for something. Then all those who voted for the winning entry, could receive a prize. For example, a restaurant wants to add a new dish to their menu, but would like to have customers decide which one to add. Offer three different ones and have customers vote by opting into your list with a special keyword for each dish. All those who voted for the winning dish will have an electronic coupon delivered right to their phone. But all those who opt in by voting can continue to receive offers from the restaurant in the future. Everybody really wins here! (Again, we recommend the PWP Mobile “RewardMe” keyword list building package.)

How can you play with and reward your customers who engage with you on their phones?
