iConnect Social Media Basics Seminar Scheduled for May 13, 2010

NEWS FLASH! The morning session of the seminar is full! So we’ve added an afternoon session.

The iConnect networking group of Naperville, Illinois, will be hosting “The Basics of Social Media” seminar on Thursday, May 13, 2010, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Sikich LLP offices in Aurora. Check-in and continental breakfast will begin at 8:30 a.m.

The world of social media has exploded in the past few years but that doesn’t mean everyone is comfortable with it or using it at all. It is new and so unlike any communication we have ever used. Using the basics in social media will provide you with the icebreaker to begin networking and promote you and your business.This seminar will provide the social media beginner the basics to get them started and take the fear of the unknown out of this new communication. The new knowledge gained from this seminar will give you the gentle push to jump right in!

Our panel of presenters will be:

Heidi Thorne of Thorne Communications will present as the Twitter expert. She will focus on “how to” and a general coverage of “I’m in…now what do I do?”
Nicole DeFalco of Write Influence will present as the social media content expert. She will focus on “what should I post and why?”
Eric Lukazewski of Echelon Design will present on the do’s and don’ts of BLOGing and technical side of this area.
Scott Kolbe of Sikich Marketing & Design Services will focus on populating your LinkedIn page and how to start using LinkedIn as a networking tool.
